Another award for Alice Major!

By Melissa Krone 0 Tagged: TNQ Writers in the News, Essays

Alice Major was unable to attend the National Magazine Awards gala at which she was awarded a Gold Medal for her essay, "The Ultraviolet Catastrophe," from The QuArc Issue. That's partly because she lives on the other side of the country, but it's also because she had already planned to attend the Alberta Literary Awards gala, where she received the Wilfrid Eggleston Award for her essay collection, Intersecting Sets: A Poet Looks at Science—in which "The Ultraviolet Catastrophe" was reprinted. Of the collection, the jury said that  “measured against the writer’s intentions and the pleasure it offers to readers, this book is practically perfect.”

Congratulations also to Tim Bowling [issue XIII.4], who won the Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Poetry for his collection, Tenderman. Both awards come with a $1500 prize!
