Best in Magazines 2007-2012

By Melissa Krone 0 Tagged: TNQ Writers in the News

The National Magazine Awards have released a free e-book,  Best in Magazines 2007-2012. The collection features the "best of the best from the past five years," as well as original interviews with some NMA winners. The New Quarterly is very please to learn that Elizabeth Hay's "City As Redhead" (issue #110) is one of those memorable stories. "City as Redhead," the parallel stories of Hay's return to Ottawa and her red-haired grandmother’s death there some years earlier, won a gold medal for "Best Short Feature" in 2010—Hay's other essay from the issue, "Last Poems," also received an honourable mention in the "Personal Journalism" category that year.

Among the "off the page" interviews included in the book, you'll also want to check out the conversation with Alex Leslie, whose story, "The Shake Table," we published in Issue #117 of TNQ.

You can download the free e-book (exclusively for ipad) from the itunes store.
