Joe Martz is a Canadian photographer and graphic designer based in Kitchener, Ontario. His photographic work centres around architecture and urban areas, sometimes using abstract perspectives to present an alternative view.
This is The Berlin Wall Memorial, part of a 1.4 kilometre stretch of the original wall seen from a lookout tower across the street. This is a rare vantage point where the viewer can experience what it was like to look from West Berlin into East Berlin. Including this site, there are sections of The Wall scattered throughout the city that still stand today to serve as a reminder of the city’s past. Unlike 25 years ago when The Wall still divided the city, these two strangers are able to walk freely throughout the city and with no fear.
