Maria Reva’s Writing Space

This week we take a peek into the writing space of Maria Reva who wrote “Methodology of Grace” for Issue 135: Fall Into a New World and learn the three things that she can’t write without.

Three things I cannot write without:

1) A window facing the neighbourhood. Some of the things I’ve witnessed through my window were far more interesting than what I was writing about at the time. An example: the Vancouver equivalent of ‘SWAT’ police once surrounded my house. They gestured to each other about something hiding under the porch stairs. (Thankfully it turned out to be an exercise.)

2) A large table for cutting out scenes and rearranging them.

3) A glass of lemon water (not pictured here). Someone once told me if you taste or smell a same something every time you begin writing, the aroma/flavour can help you focus. You develop a trigger to get in the zone. I still have no idea how well it works, but, heck, at the very least lemon water improves digestion.
