TNQ Launches Dedicated Reviews Series
From the Editor’s Desk
We are delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated reviews series in early September 2025. The new monthly feature will be published online and focus on books from small presses across Canada, with coverage spanning all genres including fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.
Selena Mercuri has been appointed Reviews Editor to helm the new series, which will initially publish one review per month online with plans to increase frequency based on readership response.
“We’re thrilled to launch TNQ’s reviews series as part of our ongoing commitment to celebrating the vibrant landscape of Canadian literature,” says Mercuri. “Small presses are doing incredible work across the country, often championing voices that might not otherwise find a platform. Our reviews will shine a spotlight on a diverse range of writers, connecting readers with books that might otherwise fly under the radar.”
The new reviews series aligns with our renewed commitment to supporting writers who may face barriers regarding race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, or age. Working with freelance reviewers, the section will provide critical coverage that celebrates the breadth and depth of Canadian small press publishing.
Stay tuned for the first review, to be published on TNQ’s website in September 2025.
