Wild Writers Literary Festival 2018

By Kerri Hutchinson on behalf of The New Quarterly

The Wild Writers Literary Festival will soon be here!

Entering its seventh year, this annual festival is a celebration of the feral and free and its expression in poetry, the short story, and everything in between.

Join us on Friday evening for our opening showcase with Sharon Bala and Rawi Hage, moderated by Jael Richardson.

Saturday is your day to focus on the craft of writing. With a mix of writer’s craft classes, conversations and panels, there is something for everyone.

The festival finishes on Sunday with the Literary Brunch featuring Katherine Ashenburg, Claire Cameron and Michael Redhill, moderated by Sharron Smith.

Think it all sounds so good? Get the all-access pass! It’s your ticket to a perfect weekend.

Prefer to choose your own adventure? Select the events that you’d like to attend.

Territorial Acknowledgement

The New Quarterly is based in Waterloo, Ontario, on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, and Neutral Peoples. We acknowledge that this land is part of the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations of the Grand River as part of the Haldimand Proclamation of 1784.

As a literary magazine devoted to storytelling, we recognize that stories have long been a way of knowing, preserving, and sharing in Indigenous cultures. We honour the generations of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who have cared for these lands and continue to do so. We commit to listening, learning, and amplifying Indigenous voices, and to supporting pathways for truth and reconciliation through the stories we publish.
