Introducing The X Page Workshop: Stories in Transit

Introducing the X Page Workshop

Stories in transit

From May 5 to May 29, The New Quarterly will be featuring the stories of The X Page Workshop: Stories in Transit at tnq.ca.

The X Page: A Storytelling Workshop is a community arts initiative that connects women who are immigrants or refugees with artists who assist and mentor them in writing and performing their own stories.Throughout the 12-week writing and performance workshop, participants develop a personal narrative, and work collaboratively to bring their individual stories together into a cohesive presentation. The project culminates with a performance before a live theatre audience.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the X Page Team was forced to cancel the 2020 live performance. In lieu of this performance, the X Page Team continued to work with workshop participants to publish their stories online. Some participants opted to also include a video recording of their stories to accompany the text.

The 2020 workshop produced incredible stories from women who are refugees and immigrants in our community and has fostered a supportive network amongst the workshop team and its participants. Thank you to all of our supporters and sponsors for helping this community flourish.
