The photograph on the cover is by Brian St. Denis, a photographer and graphic designer in Waterloo, Ontario. Taken near his grandparent’s farm in Oil Springs, ON, this photo is one of many that reflect a fascination with the abandoned and decrepit. “I have people ask me why I like taking pictures of ‘junk,’ but I see it as much more than that. I’m continually drawn to the history and mysteriousness that is captured in these rusted textures, broken windows and things left behind. Farms in particular often have their entire chronology littered across their fields. The truck in this photo has reached its final resting place, but continues to weather the marks of a long journey.”
St. Denis is currently the Audience Development Manager at Alternatives Journal, where his photos are regularly featured. More of his work can be seen at portfolio.brianstdenis.com and www.stdenisphoto.com.
